Message from Chely:
Hey everybody,
I want to let everyone know that I have, along with the board of directors of Reading, Writing & Rhythm, made a decision to change our approach this year. As you know, we have had a huge sold out concert at the Wildhorse Saloon for 7 years in a row. I have always been so proud of this event, proud of our fans and happy to have had the great artists involved. RWR is NOT ending. We are trying to be creative and find other new and exciting ways to raise awareness, to raise money and to have fun for a good cause. I'm doing my best to organize a bike ride for RWR.
We WILL be having a fan club party. It will NOT benefit RWR. It will be a real thrill for me to get to play these new songs for you, to share stories and have that old connection back with so many of you who have been with me for so long. I know that our making the fan club party into the RWR show many years ago, was a lot to ask of you. You allowed me to do what I felt compelled to do. You gave up that "connection", that intimacy that we used to have at our little fan club get togethers. Thank you. It is my desire to have that relationship back.
I must apologize that some of you heard of this new plan on other message boards and without notice from me. This is MY fault. I have been working in NYC for most of the past couple of months and I dropped the ball. Please forgive me. Please know that if you already bought your ticket in hopes of the usual RWR show at the Wildhorse and you do not wish to hang out at our 2008 fan club party... we will make any and all refunds happen. Again, this was my blunder.
I'm off to a meeting on rainy Music Row. I love it when it rains in Nashville.
Thank you so much...
You all mean the world to me.
xoxo chely
Here is a Thank You from one of our recipient schools:
"On behalf of my band students, thank you so much for donating the instruments! I have many students who were not able to be in the band because they either could not afford the rental or were too small to play the larger, more expensive instruments that the school district provides, such as tuba, baritone, bass clarinet, etc. I know that this will open the door for many more students to participate in band! Thank you so very much!
What can I do to promote your charity and give you the publicity that you so richly deserve? I would be glad to take pictures and email them to you, write letters, or anything else that would help the cause. Please let me know - my associate, Sterling Burton and I are very excited.
Again, thank you for this opportuning and for your donation!
Linda Smith
Band Director

Fall means back to school, and Reading, Writing & Rhythm uses this season to make donations to needy schools. Chely Wright was available to make a presentation of gifts personally to Hattie Cotton Elementary in East Nashville, Tenn. Wright spoke to the assembly of 1st through 4th graders about the importance of staying in school, and loving music. The charity donated hundreds of small, entry level handheld instruments for the early music education program of 3rd and 4th graders.
Trombones and a saxaphone were donated to a small school in southern Tennessee> A complete list of schools donated to will be available in the Spring.

Reading, Writing, and Rhythm© is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving music education in America's public schools. Country music artist, Chely Wright , founded this charity to donate musical instruments to schools in need all over the nation and to raise public awareness of the importance of music education for our nation's youth.
What We Do:
Ms. Wright hosts an annual benefit concert to raise money for this cause; raising over $106,000 in cash donations in 2006, as well as the value of thousands of dollars in donated instruments and services from sponsors and contributors!
"I am thrilled and proud that my friends in music are willing to lend their talents to participate in the annual benefit concert. Their continued support and willingness to participate is a clear indication to me that what we are doing is not only worthwhile but that we are all believers in music education. It's the music that brings us together." - Chely Wright
